O nome “programa ERASMUS” surgiu em homenagem ao humanista, filósofo e teólogo
Holandês, Erasmus de Rotterdam que viveu entre 1465-1536. Grande impulsionador
do pensamento dogmático em todos os campos de elevação humana, Erasmus
viveu em diversas partes da Europa, em busca de conhecimento, experiência e horizontes,
atingíveis apenas através do contacto com outros países. Após a morte, a sua
fortuna foi entregue à Universidade de Basel na Suíça com o propósito de financiamento
de programas de mobilidade.
